Cisco - CCNA Certification 200-301 - Rapid PVST+ Spanning Tree Protocol .27
Twenty Seventh Video in a Series covering all elements of Cisco Certified Network Associate (200-301 CCNA)
Blueprint Section: Network Access
In this video we take a look at a new topic called Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) with a focus on Rapid PVST+ as per the Cisco blueprint. We talk about why STP is needed to help with Layer 2 loops due to the lack of TTL within the Ethernet header along with explaining how loops are prevented at Layer 3.
We take our knowledge learnt from the previous video of Etherchannel and see how this changes the behaviour of STP. We also touch on how important design is with STP! In the next video we'll dive into STP within Packet tracer and configure, verify and tro...

    You are great, just a tiny note, When enabled on your session hosts, the Remote Desktop client will randomly select the port from the range you specify for every connection. If this range is exhausted, clients will fall back to using the default port range (49152-65535).

    Just so people are aware This video series is a great source info for the CCNA but its NOT the complete course. The creator of this series has said "Finding the time to make the videos isn't possible at the moment" in the comments. Hence why there is only 28 videos as of 8 Aug 2023. TL:DR NOT a complete series still good source of info.

    Great explanation by the way. Just for curiosity, i know that this theme is maybe in your future lectures (That i haven't watched yet) but how all these switches operate together without loops? They are using STP or other protocol( i am just guessing ) The same question with leaf and spine topology together with Etherchannel may be. How i said just for curiosity. A few words, would be more than enough. Thanks Ryan.

    Hi, thanks for the video. I am very confused about what a Multicast MAC Address is. My understanding is that a MAC address is unique (yes, there are ways to change it). They are "burnt" onto a NIC, and they are the physical address at which the node will receive the data. It makes sense for me that there are multicast IP addresses, but how is it possible that there are multicast MAC addresses, when every single MAC address should be unique? For example, in order for a video stream to reach my computer and yours, if say, a multicast MAC address is used, then we will both receive the data, my question is, how is this achieved? Since my MAC address is (must be) completetly different to yours. I know I am missing a crucial part of information, hence my confusion, if you could clarify this for me, I would appreciate it! Thank you.

    • @RyanBeney
      @RyanBeney 2 года назад

      Hey, we have special MAC addresses which devices all agree are Multicast and will receive then process them despite not being the burned in NIC address. For example routing protocols like OSPF or EIGRP have multicast addresses used by the protocol to communicate between routers but it only actions the Layer 2 frames if the protocol is running. You'll be surprised how many protocols use Multicast Mac addresses to communicate:) Hope this helps?
